Kalahari Expedition

Kalahari Expedition: Day 1

We all meet at OR Tambo international airport where we are taken by our shuttle to Land Rover Experience Gerotek. After a short introduction to Expedition vehicles we hit the road and head towards the small town of Kuruman where we will be staying in a guest house savoring the quiet African evening.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 2

An early start as our trip into the Kalahari begins. We head north to the border post at McCarthy’s rest. Once in Botswana the and past Tsabong the road deteriorates into what we call the Kalahari Highway (A multi lane sand track). Once on the outskirts of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park we follow the cut-line up to the Mabua Gate where we enter the park.

Once through the gate our wilderness Safari holiday begins. We will search for the elusive Black maned Kalahari lion, herds of Africa’s largest Antelope the Eland, as well as all the little things that make the Kalahari great!

Tonight we camp in the Mabuasehube wilderness.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 3

A day spent doing game drives and relaxing the lazy hours away. We start to get into the true African spirit.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 4

After a late breakfast we depart for an extended game drive to the South and Bosobogolo pan. This will provide us with ample opportunity to enjoy the landscapes of the Kalahari. Camping around Bosobogolo pan will create the perfect exclusive atmosphere around the fire tonight.

We pass into dreamland listening intently for the roar of a distant Kalahari lion or the giggle of a spotted Hyena.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 5

We say good bye to this wilderness paradise only to make our way to another. We hit the road west from Mabuasehube across the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, destination Nossop camp. The long drive for the day will entail traversing some of the Kalahari’s most beautiful dune veld (vegetation) and will also involve driving these dunes.

We arrive at Nossop camp in the late afternoon and enjoy a sun downer in the hide overlooking the Nossop water hole. Nossop camp is situated along the ancient Nossop River. This area provides some of the best game viewing in the Kalahari.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 6

An early morning game drive and late breakfast will fill our morning. We find ourselves experiencing life out in the Kalahari at a true soporific African tempo. Savoring an afternoon siesta and going on a late afternoon game drive. After sunset the Kalahari comes alive with the calling jackal, roaring lions and chuckling hyenas.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 7

Today’s drive will take us South along the “River“ to the National Parks main camp at Tweerivieren. We exit the park and make our way to the community concession area called Pulai. The stars yet again will watch over us as we settle in for the evening.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 8

After breakfast we disappear off to the Red Kalahari Dunes where we spend a lovely day 4x4 dune driving. After a day of taking in the Kalahari’s beauty we rest our relaxed souls at the Klipcolk Lodge for a proper Kalahari live in experience.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 9

An early start to the day as we make our way towards the tar road and the little village of Askham, from Askham we make our way along the long dirt road to Van Zyl’s rus and back to Kuruman. We hit the road to Vryburg and book into our camp in the late afternoon.

Our last night together under African skies after an unforgettable Kalahari experience.

Kalahari Expedition: Day 10

After another sumptuous breakfast we make our way back to civilisation and Land Rover Experience at Gerotek. We drop our vehicles off and catch our shuttle back to the airport.
